Tube

Tube, also known as a projectile syringe barrel, is a key component of a dart syringe used for remote drug delivery in veterinary medicine, wildlife management, and livestock care. It is designed to hold and deliver liquid medication upon impact with the target animal.
Components of a Darting Tube
  • Barrel (Tube Body) – A hollow cylinder that contains the liquid medication.
  • Plunger or Piston – A small mechanism inside the tube that pushes the medication out upon impact.
  • Valve System – Some darting tubes have one-way valves to prevent leakage before impact.
  • Pressurization System – The darting tube is often pre-pressurized using:
  • Compressed air or CO₂ (for controlled release)
  • Explosive charge (for quick injection)
  • Spring-loaded mechanisms (for mechanical activation)
  • Needle Attachment – The darting tube is connected to a hypodermic needle that injects the medication into the muscle tissue.
